Fizzled Storm

A ginormo storm was predicted by our manic KELO "meteorologists" for this weekend. Didn't happen, but it's gloomy outside. We're just "one day closer to spring" as my sister said today.

Cassie just got home from Sioux City; we're all so very happy to see her and have her to ourselves for a few days!

I downloaded new music today: the new Vampire Weekend album ("Contra") and "Hit By a Train," a greatest hits compilation by my new fave group the Old 97's.

Tierney's kitty kat hat is almost finished. I gotta add the pom-poms, but the rest is complete! I'll add a picture with her wearing it--it's cool and cute.

Time for some relaxation and a night of watching "Flight of the Conchords."

  2. Another week in fabulous South Dakota! Kick Ass!
No storms a' brewin' though. . .just cold.
I had a "You Know You're a Redneck/(or) from South Dakota When" moment tonight. I was leaving Wal-Mart with my Papa Murphy's pizza (at least it wasn't a Wal-Mart deli pizza--my fine Yankton social stature remains somewhat intact). Anyway, I was leaving W-M, driving behind an old school (circa-early-90's-before-the-driver's-side-door)Dodge Caravan. The "Caravan" was missing its back windshield. The replacement for the windshield? DUCT TAPE, of course! Rows and rows of the stuff. I can't imagine how long it took to "tape" the new window, nor do I even want to consider what the appearance of the van's driver. My guess is the vehicle's driver was a "people of Wal-Mart" type. Little ceases to amuse me. Had it been daylight, I'd have taken a phone picture and posted it for all to see. Definitely worth it!

Kids playing some Wii; Cassie texting; I'm gonna knit and read some J.D. Salinger. Sadly, I've never read "Catcher in the Rye." As an English teacher, an admittance like this is probably grounds for revoking my degree.
